Taking care of Earth and each other

At Poppy and Buddy, we take measures to treat the Earth with the utmost respect and care. What we do today affects the environment of both current and future generations, and we're happy to do our part in keeping it sustainable.

• All our books are printed on-demand. This has a significantly smaller environmental impact compared with traditional offset printing. Traditional printing often requires large orders in anticipation of sales, and many books that go unsold are destroyed. This results in wasted paper, wasted energy, added greenhouse emissions, pulping, and landfill overflows. 
  We print Poppy and Buddy books in ultra-short runs or only when an order has been received. This print-on-demand model reduces supply chain waste, greenhouse emissions, and conserves valuable natural resources.
  
  
• Unlike most Kiwi publishers*, we print our books here in New Zealand, which avoids the high emissions of overseas freight.
  
  
• Our printers use FSC-Certified paper. Through responsible management of forests, and verifying the use of recycled materials, the FSC system can help secure a long-term source of paper. You can read more about the Forest Stewardship Council here.
  
  
• All books are delivered wrapped in protective honeycomb eco-wrap - no nasty, plastic bubble wrap.
