Easy to follow and fun to read

Immersing your child in a bilingual story is very similar to reading a monolingual book. With the addition of Poppy and Buddy's Read-Along audio feature, children now have even more ways to fully engage with the story. To ensure you make the most of your new bilingual books, here are five simple steps to enhance your reading adventure.

1. Step 1: Introduce

   Read the story in English first. This helps children become familiar with the characters and themes.

2. Step 2: Listen

   Use the audio feature to listen to the story in both languages. You may want to do this several times to learn the pronunciation accurately.

3. Step 3: Interact

   Look at the pictures and talk about the story and characters. Point at the objects from the story and name them in both languages. Let your child’s interests guide the conversation.

4. Step 4: Read Along

   Encourage your child to say the new words and phrases aloud by reading along with the audio. Don’t worry if their pronunciation isn’t perfect, it will improve with practice and patience. This is a great time to give it a go yourself and read along with your child. Show them it's OK to make mistakes while learning and join in the fun!

5. Step 5: Apply

   When your child is ready, prompt them to use some of the new words and phrases in everyday life. There’s a handy vocabulary list at the back of every book.
